GNA were appointed by C and S Shopfitting Ltd to undertake RIBA Stages 4 to 6 for the project. As part of our successful tender we were tasked with finding efficiencies in the project to help deliver the scheme.

As such the initial proposal for a vaulted glass roof infill to the courtyard was redeveloped as a new solid roof with 2 large Velux rooflights. The forms of these rooflights reflecting the feature stacked window detailing within the courtyard.

The revised design for the roof not only had the added benefit of being more thermally efficient than the glazed roof, it also helps reduce the risk of overheating in the courtyard and enhanced the acoustic performance of the roof(particularly when it rains).

Full works to the project included close collaboration with the Interior Designers (Chapman Taylor) to provide an extensive refurbishment of the ground floor and vacant third floor, providing the building with a variety of new facilities.

The atrium offers meeting, collaboration, refreshment and relaxation areas. The project included extensive structural works to accommodate the creation of the atrium and refurbishment of the existing building.

The extensive refurbishment of the four storey building was completed within 12 months. The project was nominated for 'Best Refurbished/Recycled Workplace' at the BCO South West Regional Awards 2024 and has been shortlisted for 'Project of the Year – Workplace Interiors (15,000 to 30,000 sq ft)' at the Mix Awards 2024.
