GNA were appointed by CEG to undertake RIBA Stages 3 to 6 of the shell and core refurbishment works for the Drapers Yard in Holbeck. Design development involved the detailed Shell and Core coordination together with the Tenant Fitout Works.

The 1950s two storey building was to be extensively refurbished with the internal concrete frame being retained, repaired and cleaned to be left as an exposed finish for the interior fitout.

The existing masonry façade was extensively repaired and cleaned with all concrete window surrounds repaired and painted. Old masonry infill panels were removed and new bricks were carefully selected to tie in with the existing brickwork and detailing around windows was carefully coordinated to replicate the existing banding on the building.

New Crittall windows were installed to reference the industrial heritage of the building.

A complete hard and soft landscaping scheme was developed for the entire site that incorporated enhancements to the public footpaths and new areas of soft landscaping/planting around the entrances as part of the wider biodiversity enhancements.

In order to reduce loadings on the roof to enable the conversion of the roof into a new terrace and amenity space for the tenant, the existing concrete rooflights were removed and replaced with 3 lightweight glazed rooflights that formed lightwells at the first floor level internally.
