Hunslet Wharf is the ninth phase of development that Garnett Netherwood have carried out at the Old Mill Business park for Bayford developments. The 22,000ft2 office building was prelet to UKUL Insurance.
Situated on the south banks of the River Aire to the south east of central Leeds, the new office location benefits from its proximity to both the M1 and M62 motorways.
The building’s orientation on the site enabled us to incorporate larger areas of glazing on the north elevation giving the tenants stunning views out over the river. The main staircase and core areas are positioned on the south elevation to act as a solar buffer, protecting the office areas from excess heat gain.
Much care was taken over the provision of swift and bat boxes to lessen the impact of our design on the riverside habitat.
